The role of unfolded protein response in the pathogenesis of endometriosis: contribution of peritoneal fluid

Tugba Ekiz-Yilmaz et al.

Summary: The study revealed that UPR pathways are activated in endometriosis, with significant increases of p-IRE1 and p-PERK in specific cell types and phases. Exposure to high-dose peritoneal fluid from women with endometriosis led to increased p-PERK and p-IRE1 in stromal cells.

Pathogenesis of Endometriosis: New Insights into Prospective Therapies

Radhika Kapoor et al.

Summary: Endometriosis is a female reproductive disorder with a low rate of early detection, the treatment mainly involves hormone therapies, thus there is a need to study alternative strategies that are more effective and have fewer side effects.

Reciprocal regulation of LOXL2 and HIF1α drives the Warburg effect to support pancreatic cancer aggressiveness

Rongkun Li et al.

Summary: This study identifies a previously unknown hypoxia-LOXL2-HIF1α axis that regulates the Warburg effect in PDAC, providing a potential drug target for therapy. LOXL2 plays a crucial role in stabilizing HIF1α and promoting glycolytic metabolism under hypoxia, linking the Warburg effect to tumor growth and metastasis in PDAC. Hijacking glycolysis compromises LOXL2-induced oncogenic activities in this context.

Molecular Basis of Endometriosis and Endometrial Cancer: Current Knowledge and Future Perspectives

Milan Terzic et al.

Summary: The human endometrium undergoes significant changes throughout the menstrual cycle, and under the influence of different risk factors, normal tissue can develop into pathological conditions like endometriosis and endometrial cancer. The etiology and pathophysiological changes behind these conditions are largely unclear. Understanding the molecular basis of endometriosis and its role in the development of endometrial pathology can lead to improved clinical management approaches.
