Functioning Crooke Cell Adenomas: Case Series and literature Review

Erica A. Giraldi et al.

Summary: Crooke cell adenomas (CCAs) are rare, potentially aggressive pituitary adenomas. After reviewing 59 cases of functioning corticotroph adenomas and literature on CCAs, it was found that CCAs have a higher prevalence among functioning ACTH adenomas, most being macroadenomas with high levels of adrenocorticotropic hormone. Postoperative outcomes were excellent in our series, but some cases in the literature were refractory to standard treatments.

MEG3/MIR-376B-3P/HMGA2 axis is involved in pituitary tumor invasiveness

Dimin Zhu et al.

Summary: MEG3 and MIR-3768-3P expression levels were found to be decreased in patients with CNFPA, and their excessive expression inhibited tumorigenesis and promoted apoptosis in PDFS cells. MEG3 acted as an enhancer of MIR-3768-3P expression, while HMGA2 served as an oncogene in pituitary adenoma that could be negatively regulated by MEG3 via enriching MIR-3768-3P, revealing a novel regulatory network in CNFPAs.

Cytokeratin profiles in pituitary neuroendocrine tumors

Summary: The presence and patterns of keratins play a critical role in the classification of pituitary neuroendocrine tumors. CAM 5.2 and CK18 are the most valuable markers, with almost identical staining patterns observed.
