Early outcome and safety of bedaquiline-containing regimens for treatment of MDR- and XDR-TB in China: a multicentre study

M. Gao et al.

Summary: Bedaquiline treatment for MDR-TB and XDR-TB patients in China showed a high rate of culture conversion, with 85.3% of patients achieving sputum culture conversion after 24 weeks. However, patients with low body mass index were at significantly high risk of unfavorable outcomes, and serious adverse events, including prolonged QTc intervals, were noted in 8.5% of patients.

Genotypic Resistance of Pyrazinamide but Not Minimum Inhibitory Concentration Is Associated With Longer Time to Sputum Culture Conversion in Patients With Multidrug-resistant Tuberculosis

Johanna Kuhlin et al.

Summary: This study found that in patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB), PZA genotypic drug susceptibility testing (gDST) resistance was associated with a longer time to sputum culture conversion (SCC), but minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and gDST were not associated with treatment outcomes.

A highly effective and inexpensive standardized treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis: a multicenter prospective study in China

Wenwen Sun et al.

Summary: The study confirmed that an inexpensive standardized regimen for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) with low resistance to isoniazid is effective and safe, especially for newly treated patients. The outcome of the treatment was favorable, with a high cure rate and low occurrence of adverse events.
