Optically-Powered Wireless Sensor Nodes towards Industrial Internet of Things

Leticia C. Souza et al.

Summary: This study reports the experimental implementation of optically-powered wireless sensor nodes for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications. The power-over-fiber (PoF) technology is used to transmit power through optical fibers, addressing challenges in hazardous industrial environments. The results demonstrate that PoF has the potential to power and enhance the energy efficiency of IIoT sensing systems.
