Roles of cytokines and T cells in the pathogenesis of myasthenia gravis

A. Uzawa et al.

Summary: Myasthenia gravis is characterized by muscle weakness and fatigue due to autoantibodies against the acetylcholine receptor or muscle-specific tyrosine kinase. Immune cells and cytokines play important roles in the production of pathogenic autoantibodies and inflammation in the neuromuscular junction. Th17 cells, Tfh cells, and T-reg cells may contribute to the exacerbation of MG pathogenesis.
