The evidence for placental microbiome and its composition in healthy pregnancies: A systematic review

Davis R. Zakis et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the microbial composition of the placenta in healthy pregnancies, showing a low biomass placental microbiota. Some microbial taxa in the placenta may have an oral origin. Most of the included studies had a high risk of quality bias, indicating caution should be used when interpreting the results of individual papers.

The effects of dietary protein and fiber levels on growth performance, gout occurrence, intestinal microbial communities, and immunoregulation in the gut-kidney axis of goslings

Yumeng Xi et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of dietary protein and fiber levels on growth, gout occurrence, intestinal microbial communities, and immunoregulation in goslings. The results showed that high protein and low fiber diets increased the risk of gout and worsened renal function. Increasing fiber levels promoted the growth of probiotics and alleviated gut dysbiosis caused by high protein diets.

Restoration of cefixime-induced gut microbiota changes by a prebiotic blend in a mouse model

Jingyi Yuan et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that prebiotics can improve metabolic disorders such as obesity by modulating the composition of the gut microbiota. In particular, prebiotic blends supplementation increased beneficial bacteria and decreased harmful bacteria compared to antibiotic treatment, while also regulating the levels of microbial metabolites.

Combined Use ofBacillus subtilis yb-114,246 andBacillus licheniformis yb-214,245 Improves Body Growth Performance of Chinese Huainan Partridge Shank Chickens by Enhancing Intestinal Digestive Profiles

Jiajun Yang et al.

Summary: The study revealed that by supplementing strains of Bacillus subtilis and B. licheniformis, it can improve digestive enzyme activities, intestinal development, and gut bacterial composition in chickens, leading to higher body growth performance. The findings suggest that the combined Bacillus sp. can be a potential alternative to antibiotics in promoting chicken growth.

Summary: The study revealed a significant change in fecal microbiota composition within 14 days of calf birth, with higher relative abundances of Faecalibacterium and Butyricicoccus in the gut of healthy calves. There was great variation in colostrum microbiota composition, with no clear association with fecal microbiota.
