Magnetic field annealing of FeCo-based amorphous alloys to enhance thermal stability and Curie temperature

Zai-Dao Li et al.

Summary: The effect of different annealing temperatures on the crystallization condition, magnetic properties, and thermal stability of the amorphous magnetic alloy Co(36)Fe(36)Si(4.8)B1(9.2)Nb(4) (at%) was investigated in this study. Results showed that the annealing temperature can significantly influence the size and content of precipitated nanocrystals in the amorphous alloy, leading to changes in magnetic properties and Curie temperature. Under an applied transverse external magnetic field of 9550.0 A·m(-1), annealing at 595 degrees C for 30 min resulted in the amorphous alloy exhibiting excellent soft magnetic properties, with a saturation magnetization of 110.00 mA·m(2)·g(-1), residual magnetic induction intensity of 4 x 10(-6) T, and coercivity as low as 57.3 A·m(-1). Furthermore, the Curie temperature of the field-annealed samples reached up to 440 degrees C, approximately 58 degrees C higher than that of the as-quenched species.

Prediction of density in amorphous and nanocrystalline soft magnetic alloys: A data mining approach

R. Parsons et al.

Summary: This study reviewed literature to determine the density of amorphous soft magnetic alloys and found it can be accurately described by a regression function. The change in density during amorphization and subsequent nanocrystallization was estimated to be between 0.5% and 3%, depending on the alloy composition. The difference in density between a crystalline precursor ingot and after amorphization by melt spinning was observed to vary between 2% and 3%.
