Chiral carbon dots: synthesis, optical properties, and emerging applications

B, N co-doped carbon dots based fluorescent test paper and hydrogel for visual and efficient dual ion detection

Summary: Developing water-soluble carbon dots (CDs) for ion detection in the environment is highly significant. In this study, boron, nitrogen co-doped organic molecule-derived CDs (BN-CDs) with water solubility were synthesized via a simple method. The BN-CDs showed bright tangerine fluorescence and a high fluorescent quantum yield. They also exhibited a good linear relationship with Cu2+/Co2+ and were used to fabricate instrument-free solid sensors for sensitive monitoring of both ions.
