Synthesis and spectroscopic and structural characterization of three new 2-methyl-4-styrylquinolines formed using Friedlander reactions between (2-aminophenyl)chalcones and acetone

Diana Rocio Vera et al.

Summary: Three new 2-methyl-4-styrylquinoline derivatives were successfully synthesized using Friedlander reactions and characterized. The structures of these derivatives were analyzed using various spectroscopic techniques and crystal structure analysis. The compounds exhibited intermolecular interactions through C-H···N and π-π stacking in one case, and through C-H···π and π-π stacking in another case. Stacking interactions were also observed in the third compound.

Quinoline anticancer agents active on DNA and DNA-interacting proteins: From classical to emerging therapeutic targets

Antonino Lauria et al.

Summary: Quinoline is a versatile nitrogen heterocycle that can be used to develop antiproliferative agents with different mechanisms of action, such as interfering with DNA structure or proteins/enzymes. Some quinoline compounds have been studied as lead compounds for developing new agents with improved properties. Additionally, there is notable attention to quinoline molecules that interfere with emerging targets involved in cancer progression, providing possibilities for new anticancer agents.
