Recapitulation of endogenous 4R tau expression and formation of insoluble tau in directly reprogrammed human neurons

Lucia S. Capano et al.

Summary: Tau, a microtubule-binding protein expressed in neurons, plays a crucial role in normal brain function. Dysregulation of the balance between 3R and 4R isoforms can cause tauopathy. By using miRNA-induced neuronal reprogramming, we have generated human neurons that recapitulate Tau expression patterns similar to those found in the normal adult brain.
