Theoretical analysis of the NH3, NO, and NO2 adsorption on boron-nitrogen and boron-phosphorous co-doped monolayer graphene - A comparative study

Aditya Tiwari et al.

Summary: In this study, a detailed theoretical investigation was conducted on the molecular adsorption and co-adsorption of three Nitrogen-based environmental pollutant gases on Boron/Nitrogen (B/N) and Boron/Phosphorous (B/P) codoped monolayer Graphene using density functional theory (DFT). The results showed that co-doping configurations significantly influenced the molecular adsorption, and co-doping of Nitrogen or Phosphorus could lead to significant semiconductor bandgap opening while retaining the intrinsic nature of Graphene.

Comparative analysis of strain engineering on the electronic properties of homogenous and heterostructure bilayers of MoX2 (X = S, Se, Te)

Joshna Palepu et al.

Summary: In this study, the electronic properties of homogenous and van der Waals heterostructure bilayers of Molybdenum Dichalcogenides (MoX2) were compared for the first time. The response to applied mechanical strain was investigated using first-principle calculations. The results suggest that suitably strained vdW bilayers of MoX2 have great potential in electronic and optoelectronic applications.

First-Principles Density Functional Theory Calculations of Bilayer Membranes Heterostructures of Ti3C2T2 (MXene)/Graphene and AgNPs

Golibjon R. Berdiyorov et al.

Summary: The performance and stability of two-dimensional layered membrane systems are significantly influenced by the stacking arrangement and heterostructure composition. This study compared the binding energy of MXene/graphene and MXene/AgNPs bilayers to reveal enhanced stability of MXene/graphene systems, even in the presence of water molecules. The strong interlayer interactions, due to variations in electrostatic potential, could enhance the structural properties of MXene membranes for water purification applications.

Olivine LiMnxFe1-xPO4 cathode materials for lithium ion batteries: restricted factors of rate performances

Li Yang et al.

Summary: LMFP, a promising cathode material for lithium ion batteries, combines the high safety of LiFePO4 and the high energy density of LiMnPO4 as olivine structure. However, overcoming obstacles for achieving higher rate performance is essential, including improving low electronic conductivity and Li+ diffusion coefficient. This review systematically discusses the factors affecting high rate performance of LMFP cathode materials, from bulk properties to interface structure and cell preparation engineering. Several technical challenges and research trends for enhancing the rate performance of LMFP materials are proposed based on current understanding.
