Isostatic Hot Pressed W-Cu Composites with Nanosized Grain Boundaries: Microstructure, Structure and Radiation Shielding Efficiency against Gamma Rays

Daria Tishkevich et al.

Summary: This study presents a new fast isostatic hot pressing method for fabricating W-Cu composites with nanosized grain boundaries and high effective density. The microstructure analysis shows that the samples have a polycrystalline well-packed structure, with copper acting as a matrix surrounding the tungsten grains. The W-Cu composites exhibit high shielding efficiency against gamma radiation in the 0.276-1.25 MeV energy range, making them excellent materials for radiation protection.

High thermoelectric performance of Cu2Se-based thin films with adjustable element ratios by pulsed laser deposition

Aiai Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, b-axis-oriented Cu2Se epitaxial thin films were successfully prepared, and the thermal and electrical properties of the films were optimized by adjusting the element ratio and deposition temperature. The thin films exhibited high power factors at high temperatures, demonstrating their potential for solid-state refrigeration and power generation.

Electrodeposition conditions-dependent crystal structure, morphology and electronic properties of Bi films

Alexander Fedotov et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the electronic properties and structure of bismuth films obtained through electrodeposition from high-speed perchlorate electrolyte, revealing specific changes in characteristics. By characterizing the structure, microstructure, and electronic properties of Bi films, combined with the impact of current density increase on grain size and shape, differences in electronic characteristics of Bi films electrodeposited under different currents and electrolyte composition were explained.
