Nanophotonic Materials for Twisted-Light Manipulation

Haoran Ren et al.

Summary: Twisted light, a helical spatial mode carrying orbital angular momentum, has great potential in optical and quantum information applications. However, current experiments are hindered by bulky, expensive, and slow-response optical elements. Nanophotonics offers a solution by providing compact and multifunctional devices for generating and detecting twisted light modes.

Elastic Plasmonic-Enhanced Fabry-Perot Cavities with Ultrasensitive Stretching Tunability

Pau Guell-Grau et al.

Summary: The first stretchable plasmonic-enhanced and wrinkled Fabry-Perot (FP) cavities are demonstrated, which are composed of self-embedded arrays of Au nanostructures at controlled depths into elastomer films. These novel structures have unprecedented optomechanical effects and can be used for strain sensing.

A surface plasmon polariton-triggered Z-scheme for overall water splitting and solely light-induced hydrogen generation

D. Zabelin et al.

Summary: We propose an advanced plasmon-triggered Z-scheme for efficient overall water splitting using longer wavelength photons. The study demonstrates that plasmon triggering allows for the utilization of low-energy photons and can synergistically increase hydrogen production under certain conditions.

Mechanically Tunable Nanogap Antennas: Single-Structure Effects and Multi-Structure Applications

Florian Laible et al.

Summary: By mechanically changing the width of a nanometer gap between two optical antennas, the coupling condition can be modified, leading to a shift in the antenna's localized surface plasmon resonance wavelength and a modification of the intensity in the antenna hotspot. Applications of such systems include plasmonic strain sensing and tunable surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy platforms.

G-Doping-Based Metal-Semiconductor Junction

Avtandil Tavkhelidze et al.

Summary: Geometry-induced doping (G-doping) has been successfully achieved in semiconductor nanograting layers, leading to the fabrication of p-p(v) junction with significantly low forward voltage and reduced reverse current. The formation mechanism of p-p(v) junction has been proposed, explaining the impact of G-doping depth and depletion width on the reduction of reverse current. Theoretical analysis shows that the decrease in reverse current is attributed to the lower carrier generation rate resulting from the reduced density of quantum states within the G-doped region.
