In-situ pyrite trace element and sulfur isotope characteristics and metallogenic implications of the Qixiashan Pb-Zn-Ag polymetallic deposit, Eastern China

Wen-Dong Zhang et al.

Summary: The Qixiashan Pb-Zn-Ag deposit in Eastern China is the largest polymetallic deposit in the region. It is hosted in Carboniferous carbonate units and is still debated whether it is associated with Late Mesozoic magmatism or Carboniferous sedimentary exhalative events. The study suggests that the origin of pyrite in the deposit is more likely to be from seawater sulfate rather than magmatic-hydrothermal sources.

Age and mineralization processes of decratonic lode gold deposits in the southern North China Craton: Constraints from trace elements, in-situ S-Pb isotopes and Rb-Sr geochronology of pyrite from the Chen?er gold deposit

Shi-Sheng Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the Chen'er gold deposit in the Xiaoqinling district using in-situ Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) to analyze trace elements and isotopes. The results showed that gold mainly occurs as solid solutions and sub-micrometer inclusions, and the mineralization occurred in the Early Cretaceous. The sulfur isotope values fluctuated due to physicochemical parameters, and the source of sulfur was magmatic. The lead isotopic compositions indicated a mixed mantle-crust origin.

Time Limit of Gold Mineralization in Muping-Rushan Belt, Eastern Jiaodong Peninsula, China: Evidence from Muscovite Ar-Ar Dating

Binghan Chen et al.

Summary: Controversy surrounds the genetic relationship between gold mineralization and magmatism, especially in deposits in granite. In this study, the authors focused on the Muping-Rushan gold belt in eastern Jiaodong Peninsula, China, and used precise mineralization ages to determine the relationship between gold and intrusion. The results showed that the gold mineralization occurred 16 million years after the intrusion of Kunyushan granite and before the intrusion of Sanfoshan granite. Furthermore, the ore fluid in the Muping-Rushan gold belt was characterized by medium-low salinity and medium-low temperature.

Mineralization of the Shangjiazhuang Mo deposit in the Jiaodong peninsula, China: Constraints from S-H-O isotopes and fluid inclusions

Jie Li et al.

Summary: The Shangjiazhuang Mo deposit in the eastern Jiaodong Peninsula is controlled by NW-direction fractures and is formed in three stages: quartz-molybdenite, quartz-chalcopyrite and molybdenite, and quartz-pyrite. The ore-forming fluids evolved from magmatic water to a mixture of meteoric and magmatic water, resulting in the precipitation and enrichment of ore-forming elements. Different types of inclusions coexist in the main metallogenic period as temperature drops, indicating fluid immiscibility or boiling processes leading to CO2 escape.

Fei Xue et al.

Summary: Investigating the granitoid suite from the Laiyuan complex in the central North China Craton (NCC) provides insights into magma evolution, petrogenetic linkages, and crust-mantle interaction related to craton destruction. The diverse rock types in the complex show distinct magmatic evolution and petrogenesis, suggesting a complex process of crust-mantle interaction.

A Geological-Geophysical Prospecting Model for Deep-Seated Gold Deposits in the Jiaodong Peninsula, China

Mingchun Song et al.

Summary: This study upgrades the geological-geophysical prospecting model based on deep metallogenic model and geophysical method of large exploration depths, highlighting that deep-seated gold deposits are controlled by large faults and exhibit a stepped metallogenic model. The traditional geophysical model has been transformed into a comprehensive multi-parameter geological-geophysical qualitative prospecting model focusing on ore-controlling structural planes. The comprehensive deep prospecting model effectively solves the problem of deep prospecting of gold deposits controlled by faults and provides a technology demonstration for deep prospecting throughout China.

Petrogenesis of the Early Cretaceous Hongshan Complex in the Southern Taihang Mountains: Constraints from Element Geochemistry, Zircon U-Pb Geochronology and Hf Isotopes

Xiaolei Chu et al.

Summary: The Hongshan complex in the central part of the North China Craton consists of various types of rocks emplaced in the Early Cretaceous, likely derived from a mixture of enriched lithospheric mantle and thickened lower crust, showing geochemical features associated with adakitic rocks. Subduction of the Paleo-Pacific plate controlled these magma processes and led to the destruction and thinning of the central North China Craton.

The big mantle wedge and decratonic gold deposits

Rixiang Zhu et al.

Summary: The Circum-Pacific subduction zone is a renowned gold metallogenic domain in the world, with important gold metallogenic provinces such as the North China Craton and Nevada. Formation of ore-forming fluids is related to the destruction of cratons and involves hydrated hydrous minerals like Phases A to E releasing sulfur-rich fluids. The destabilization of a water- and gold-rich weak layer during craton destruction accelerates the release of gold-bearing fluids for explosive gold mineralization.

Evolution of Pyrite Compositions at the Sizhuang Gold Deposit, Jiaodong Peninsula, Eastern China: Implications for the Genesis of Jiaodong-Type Orogenic Gold Mineralization

Zhankun Liu et al.

Summary: The textures and trace elements of pyrite in the Sizhuang gold deposit indicate that the formation of gold deposits may be influenced by deep high-temperature magmatic waters and meteoric water infiltration. Gold mineralization at the Sizhuang deposit is interpreted to be controlled by pressure-driver owing to the seismic activities in the Jiaojia fault system.

Tectono-magmatic controls on decratonic gold deposits

Jia Chang et al.

Summary: The study of the central Taihangshan gold district in the North China Craton reveals key tectono-magmatic factors responsible for the formation of gold-rich deposits in post-subduction settings, including the accumulation of magmas through trans-lithospheric fault systems and the generation of auriferous ore fluids. This has implications for understanding the genesis of gold-rich deposits in strongly extensional settings.
