Fine mapping a ClGS gene controlling dark-green stripe rind in watermelon

Dengke Wang et al.

Summary: The study identified a single dominant gene, ClGS, controlling the dark-green stripe in watermelon, and used BSA and next-generation sequencing for fine mapping. Analysis of candidate genes in the mapped region revealed differential expression in different genotypes, suggesting their involvement in stripe formation.

Fine Mapping and Functional Analysis of Major Regulatory Genes of Soluble Solids Content in Wax Gourd (Benincasa hispida)

Wenting Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, the regulatory gene BhSSC2.1 for soluble solids content (SSC) in wax gourd was identified through QTL mapping and BSA-seq. A molecular marker was also developed for marker-assisted breeding. These findings lay the foundation for future breeding and genetic mechanism research on wax gourd.

QTLs and candidate genes analyses for fruit size under domestication and differentiation in melon (Cucumis melo L.) based on high resolution maps

Qun Lian et al.

Summary: Two high-density genetic maps were constructed using whole-genome resequencing with two F-2 segregating populations and two loci for fruit size were identified on chromosome 11 in WAP and chromosome 5 in MAP. An auxin response factor and a YABBY transcription factor were inferred to be the candidate genes for both loci.

Quantitative Trait Locus Mapping and Identification of Candidate Genes Controlling Flowering Time in Brassica napus L.

Yu Xu et al.

Summary: By utilizing SSR and SLAF-seq technologies, this study successfully mapped QTLs for flowering time in rapeseed and identified three target intervals. A total of 186 genes with genetic variations, including 14 related to flowering time pathways, were found in these intervals. Development of six InDel markers linked to flowering time indicates the credibility of the results for further genetic studies in Brassica napus L.

Identification and Application of BhAPRR2 Controlling Peel Colour in Wax Gourd (Benincasa hispida)

Lianlian Ma et al.

Summary: This study investigated the genetic inheritance patterns associated with green and white skin in wax gourd using F-2 genetic segregation populations. The candidate gene Bch05G003950 (BhAPRR2) encoding APRR2 was identified as a key regulator of peel color in wax gourd. Further analysis revealed significant differences in chlorophyll content and BhAPRR2 expression between green and white-skinned wax gourd.

Comprehensive Analysis of Transcriptome and Metabolome Reveals the Flavonoid Metabolic Pathway Is Associated with Fruit Peel Coloration of Melon

Aiai Zhang et al.

Summary: The study used transcriptome and metabolome analysis to reveal the association between flavonoid biosynthesis and melon peel coloration, identifying 12 genes that regulate flavonoid synthesis. Based on different melon peel samples, the study laid a foundation for understanding the molecular mechanisms of melon peel coloration by exploring valuable genes and metabolites.

Two User-Friendly Molecular Markers Developed for the Identification of Hybrid Lethality Genes in Brassica oleracea

Zhiliang Xiao et al.

Summary: By resequencing cabbage lines, researchers were able to develop accurate markers MBoHL1 and KBoHL2 for rapid identification of HL genes in cabbage. These markers showed 100% accuracy in eight inbred lines and play an important role in preventing genetic death during breeding processes.

Fine mapping and identification of the candidate gene BFS for fruit shape in wax gourd (Benincasa hispida)

Zhikui Cheng et al.

Summary: Non-synonymous mutations in the BFS gene affect the shape of wax gourd fruits, with different mutations observed in round and cylindrical fruit varieties. The expression of the BFS gene at the early stage of fruit formation may play a role in determining fruit shape. Ultimately, dCAPS markers were developed for marker-assisted selection in wax gourd breeding.
