Atractylodes lancea Rhizoma Attenuates DSS-Induced Colitis by Regulating Intestinal Flora and Metabolites

Linghang Qu et al.

Summary: This study compared the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of raw Atractylodes lancea and bran-fried Atractylodes lancea on dextran sulfate sodium-induced ulcerative colitis in mice. The results showed that both preparations alleviated colitis symptoms, inhibited inflammation and restored gut microbial balance. Bran-fried Atractylodes lancea had a better therapeutic effect than raw Atractylodes lancea.

The hypotaurine-taurine pathway as an antioxidative mechanism in patients with acute liver failure

Takamasa Mizota et al.

Summary: This study found that in acute liver failure, there is a decrease in metabolites related to glycolysis and pentose phosphate pathways, as well as high-energy phosphornucleotides, while methionine and its metabolites are increased. Furthermore, the increase in hypotaurine and taurine coincides with a decrease in total glutathione, suggesting a potential role of the hypotaurine-taurine pathway in oxidative stress protection.

LncRNA GIRGL drives CAPRIN1-mediated phase separation to suppress glutaminase-1 translation under glutamine deprivation

Ruijie Wang et al.

Summary: GIRGL is a long noncoding RNA induced during glutamine starvation, associated with translational suppression of GLS1. Cellular GIRGL levels are balanced by transactivation by c-JUN and negative stability regulation by HuR/Ago2. Elevated GIRGL levels drive formation of a complex between CAPRIN1 dimers and GLS1 mRNA, promoting liquid-liquid phase separation of CAPRIN1 and stress granule formation.

Cepharanthine inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma cell growth and proliferation by regulating amino acid metabolism and suppresses tumorigenesis in vivo

Fan Feng et al.

Summary: Cepharanthine (CEP), extracted from Stephania cepharantha Hayata, has shown potential in treating hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by inhibiting cell migration, proliferation, and inducing apoptosis. Through RNA-seq and GC-MS, CEP was found to affect metabolism-associated pathways and down-regulate metabolites, leading to significant antitumor effects in both in vitro and in vivo experiments.
