Pyrroloquinoline quinone ameliorates diabetic cardiomyopathy by inhibiting the pyroptosis signaling pathway in C57BL/6 mice and AC16 cells

Xue-feng Qu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that PQQ can improve diabetic cardiomyopathy by inhibiting pyroptosis mediated by the NF-kappa B/NLRP3 inflammasome. PQQ reduces myocardial hypertrophy and myocardial fibrosis, enhances antioxidant function, and decreases inflammatory cytokine levels. Furthermore, PQQ improves mitochondrial dysfunction and inhibits NF-kappa B activation.

Melatonin alleviates doxorubicin-induced mitochondrial oxidative damage and ferroptosis in cardiomyocytes by regulating YAP expression

Xiao Sun et al.

Summary: This study investigates the protective effects of melatonin against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity, and reveals its involvement in modulating ferroptosis and YAP expression. These findings provide insights into potential therapeutic strategies for ameliorating doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity.

Ferroptosis: molecular mechanisms and health implications

Daolin Tang et al.

Summary: Cell death can be executed through different subroutines, such as ferroptosis which is an iron-dependent form of non-apoptotic cell death. Ferroptosis can occur through two major pathways, driven by redox imbalance and abnormal expression of redox-active enzymes. The process is precisely regulated at multiple levels, with the transcription factor NFE2L2 playing a central role in anti-ferroptotic defense.

Role of GALNT4 in protecting against cardiac hypertrophy through ASK1 signaling pathway

Bin-Bin Zhang et al.

Summary: Pathological myocardial hypertrophy is regulated by multiple pathways, and the study demonstrated the role of GALNT4 in myocardial hypertrophy. GALNT4 acts by blocking the activation of the ASK1 signaling cascade to affect the degree of hypertrophy and cardiac function.
