MicroRNA-142-3p facilitates inflammatory response by targeting ZEB2 and activating NF-κB signaling in gouty arthritis

Yao Lu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the role and mechanism of miRNA-142-3p in gouty arthritis (GA). The results showed that miRNA-142-3p facilitates inflammatory response in GA by targeting ZEB2 and activating NF-kappa B signaling.

Environmental factors and risk of gout

Zheng-Dong Wu et al.

Summary: Gout is a chronic disease characterized by inflammatory arthritis caused by the deposition of monosodium urate crystals. Elevated serum urate levels and environmental factors such as air pollutants, temperature and humidity changes have been found to play a significant role in the onset and exacerbation of gout. Environmental factors can induce inflammatory mediators and contribute to the pathogenesis of gout.

Serious Infections in Patients With Gout in the US: A National Study of Incidence, Time Trends, and Outcomes

Jasvinder A. Singh et al.

Summary: The study revealed an increasing trend of serious infections in hospitalized gout patients, with pneumonia and sepsis being the most common types. Older age, higher comorbidity index score, and certain demographic factors were associated with higher healthcare utilization and mortality, suggesting the need for targeted interventions to improve outcomes and reduce burden.

Role of diet in hyperuricemia and gout

Abhijeet Danve et al.

Summary: This review examines the impact of various diets on hyperuricemia and clinical gout outcomes. While dietary factors have some influence on serum urate levels, their impact on the long-term clinical course of gout is uncertain. Limited evidence suggests that avoidance of certain foods and beverages may decrease the frequency of gout flares. Weight loss is beneficial for prevention and treatment of gout.

Dysregulated microRNA expression in rheumatoid arthritis families-a comparison between rheumatoid arthritis patients, their first-degree relatives, and healthy controls

Emma Renman et al.

Summary: Recent studies show altered expression of certain microRNAs in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and their relatives compared to healthy controls, suggesting involvement of microRNA in disease progression. The expression pattern of microRNAs in relatives partly overlaps with that of RA patients. The use of corticosteroids may influence the expression of certain microRNAs.

Yu Wang

Summary: The study revealed that Tripterine can mitigate gouty arthritis by regulating the miR-449a/NLRP3 axis and STAT3/NF-kappa B signaling pathway, promoting the polarization of macrophages to the M2 phenotype. However, inhibition of miR-449a impedes the therapeutic effect of Trip and increases NLRP3 inflammasome expression.

MiR-223-3p and miR-22-3p inhibit monosodium urate-induced gouty inflammation by targeting NLRP3

Xiang Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that miR-223-3p and miR-22-3p can reduce gout inflammation by inhibiting the expression of NLRP3. These miRNAs interact with the 3' untranslated region segment of NLRP3 and decrease their expression, leading to a decrease in inflammatory effects in gout.

Circular RNA circHIPK3 Activates Macrophage NLRP3 Inflammasome and TLR4 Pathway in Gouty Arthritis via Sponging miR-561 and miR-192

Chaofeng Lian et al.

Summary: Increasing evidence suggests that circRNAs play important roles in regulating gene expressions in various diseases. This study aimed to investigate the role and underlying mechanism of circHIPK3 in the inflammatory response of gouty arthritis. The results showed that circHIPK3 sponges miR-192 and miR-561 to promote the expressions of TLR4 and NLRP3, thereby enhancing the inflammatory response in gouty arthritis.
