Multi-Modality Fusion & Inductive Knowledge Transfer Underlying Non-Sparse Multi-Kernel Learning and Distribution Adaption

Yuanpeng Zhang et al.

Summary: With the development of sensors, there is an increasing amount of multimodal data in biomedical and bioinformatics fields. This study proposes a feature-level multimodal fusion model using multi-kernel learning and transfer learning, specifically designed for insufficient training samples. The model achieved better performance compared to baselines in multiple scenarios evaluated using epilepsy EEG data.

Detection and Classification of Alzheimer's disease from cognitive impairment with resting-state fMRI

P. R. Buvaneswari et al.

Summary: Detection and classification of Alzheimer's disease (AD) using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rsfMRI) is a demanding field of research. This study proposes a novel approach for classifying and detecting AD and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) using rsfMRI. The study preprocesses the images and extracts raw features, then applies PCA and SVR for feature selection and classification. The results show that the proposed method outperforms existing models in terms of classification accuracy.

Integration of an imbalance framework with novel high-generalizable classifiers for radiomics-based distant metastases prediction of advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Yuanpeng Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, a high-generalizable classifier MERGE and an imbalance framework SUS are developed to address model overfitting and data imbalance in radiomics studies. The integration of class compactness graph into multi-kernel regression helps weaken the overfitting problem, while the sensitivity-based under-sampling imbalance ensemble framework SUS utilizes potentially informative data effectively. Experimental results demonstrate promising performance compared with benchmarking methods.

PET Neuroimaging of Alzheimer's Disease: Radiotracers and Their Utility in Clinical Research

Weiqi Bao et al.

Summary: Alzheimer's Disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that starts from preclinical stage with neuropathological alterations, progresses to prodromal stage with slight symptoms of amnesia, and then to the terminal stage with extensive loss of basic cognitive functions. PET radiotracers targeting pathological aggregations in the Alzheimer's brain have been developed for early detection and treatment monitoring.
