Anti-coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) targets and mechanisms of puerarin

Xingyue Qin et al.

Summary: This study aimed to uncover the pharmacological function and underlying mechanism of puerarin as a potential treatment for COVID-19 using network pharmacology and molecular docking. Puerarin was found to target key proteins involved in oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis to exert its anti-COVID-19 effects. The results also indicated that puerarin may serve as a potential treatment for COVID-19 by targeting specific signaling pathways.

Puerarin protects cardiomyocytes from ischemia-reperfusion injury by upregulating LncRNA ANRIL and inhibiting autophagy

Yanhui Han et al.

Summary: This study investigated the roles of puerarin and LncRNA ANRIL in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury. The findings suggest that puerarin protects myocardial tissues by up-regulating ANRIL and inhibiting autophagy.

Up-regulation of thioredoxin system by puerarin inhibits lipid uptake in macrophages

Wenchao Li et al.

Summary: Pueraarin up-regulates thioredoxin-1 and thioredoxin reductase-1 expression, leading to inhibition of ROS generation in cells and reduction of lipid uptake by macrophages. This effect is mediated through Trx1 inhibition and involves scavenger receptors SR-A and Lox-1. Additionally, puerarin induces Nrf2 activity and cooperates with ATF4 to activate Trx1, suggesting Trx1 as a potential target for atherosclerosis prevention.
