Efficient and stable core-shell ?-Fe2O3/WS2/WOx photoanode for oxygen evolution reaction to enhance photoelectrochemical water splitting

Zohreh Masoumi et al.

Summary: In this study, WS2 nanosheets were prepared through a liquid-phase exfoliation method and loaded on alpha-Fe(2)O(3)photoanodes to form core-shell structured photoanodes. These structures have advantages of effective separation, decreased recombination of electron-hole pairs, and increased electron transport properties, resulting in improved PEC performance.

Methanol Photoelectrooxidation on Hematite Films Modified with TiO2, Bi, and Co

V. A. Grinberg et al.

Summary: The photoelectrocatalytic oxidation of methanol was investigated on thin-film nanocrystalline hematite electrodes modified by TiO2, Bi, and Co, prepared using the sol-gel method. The modified hematite showed high activity in the photoelectrochemical process of methanol oxidation under visible light illumination, attributed to a decrease in electron-hole recombination rate. Thus, thin-film photoanodes based on modified hematite have promising prospects for practical application in the photoelectrochemical degradation of organic pollutants.

Simultaneous Enhancement of Charge Separation and Hole Transportation in a W:α-Fe2O3/MoS2 Photoanode: A Collaborative Approach of MoS2 as a Heterojunction and W as a Metal Dopant

Zohreh Masoumi et al.

Summary: The study synthesized a W-doped Fe2O3/MoS2 core-shell electrode with unique nanostructure modifications, which overcame material drawbacks and improved photoelectrochemical performance. The optimized combination of heterojunction and metal doping on pure alpha-Fe2O3 showed significantly enhanced photon-to-electron conversion and photon-to-current efficiency compared to other electrodes.
