Graphdiyne reinforced multifunctional Cu/Ni bimetallic Phosphides-Graphdiyne hybrid nanostructure as high performance electrocatalyst for water splitting

Juan Gao et al.

Summary: Cu/Ni bimetallic phosphides with Graphdiyne (GDY) were designed and fabricated for the first time as a catalyst for both hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in water splitting. The hybrid nanomaterial CuNiPx-GDY exhibited excellent catalytic performance and stability due to the synergistic effect between GDY and transition metal phosphides, as well as the atomic scale heterojunctions between Cu3P and Ni2P.

Homojunction photocatalysts for water splitting

Xiangjiu Guan et al.

Summary: Charge-carrier separation is a critical issue in photocatalytic water splitting and can be accelerated by constructing microscopic junctions in photocatalysts. Homojunction photocatalysts, composed of different forms of semiconductor with identical compositions, can inherit the advantages of heterojunction-based photocatalysts in charge separation while avoiding potential drawbacks. Recently, homojunction-based photocatalysts have gained significant attention in water splitting.
