Research on the influence of environmental regulation on technological innovation efficiency of manufacturing industry in China

G. Li et al.

Summary: The study found that environmental regulations have a significant impact on the technological innovation efficiency of China's manufacturing industry, and different types of environmental regulation tools have different effects on the industry. Environmental regulations have an inhibitory effect on technological innovation efficiency in the same period, but have a promoting effect in the lag stage.

Measurement and Spatial Correlations of Green Total Factor Productivities of Chinese Provinces

Huaping Zhang et al.

Summary: This article establishes a system of assessment indicators for green total factor productivity (GTFP) and analyzes the spatial correlation and convergence of GTFPs among 30 provinces in China. The results show regional differences in GTFP, with a stepwise descent from east to west. The paper also highlights the significant role of spatial clustering and the impact of various factors on GTFP convergence.

A Measurement and Analysis of the Growth of Urban Green Total Factor Productivity--Based on the Perspective of Energy and Land Elements

Pei Liu et al.

Summary: This study calculates and analyzes the green total factor productivity (GTFP) growth of 280 cities in China from 2004 to 2016, using the SBM directional distance function method and Luenberger productivity index. The main findings include: the overall growth trend of GTFP can be divided into three stages; scale efficiency is the main source of GTFP growth; land resource inefficiency is the highest among the factors affecting GTFP; negative effects of urban land and energy structure are mainly reflected in pure technology growth and scale efficiency growth of GTFP; investment in scientific and technological innovation, foreign direct investment, urban population density, and road area per capita have significantly positive effects on GTFP growth.

SO2 emissions trading and firm exports in China

Donghua Liu et al.

Summary: By examining the impact of China's SO2 emissions trading scheme on firm exports, it is found that market-based environmental regulation has a positive effect on firm exports in more polluting industries, potentially prompting firms to engage in more innovation activities and improve exporting performance. This positive effect is mainly present in non-state-owned enterprises and more competitive industries.
