Demonstration of a Pulsed G-Band 50-W Traveling Wave Tube

Summary: This research presents the progress of a pulsed G-band 50 W traveling wave tube with pencil beam focused by periodic permanent magnet. By setting the operating point near the cutoff frequency, using folded waveguide slow wave structure with modified circular bends, and adopting phase velocity tapering technique, the tube's operation performances have been significantly improved, achieving high power, high electronic efficiency, and significant bandwidth.

Summary: The Institute of Applied Electronics has developed a wideband continuous wave transformed folded waveguide Traveling Wave Tube (CW TFWTWT) amplifier operating at G-band. The amplifier produces maximum output power of 28.27W at 220GHz frequency with a 7GHz -3dB bandwidth, and a maximum gain of 31.4dB at 221GHz frequency.
