Complexity for Conformal Field Theories in General Dimensions

Nicolas Chagnet et al.

Summary: The study explores the circuit complexity of conformal field theory states in arbitrary dimensions, with circuits moving along a unitary representation of the Lorentzian conformal group. Different choices of distance functions are understood in terms of the geometry of coadjoint orbits of the conformal group. The study explicitly relates circuits to timelike geodesics in anti-de Sitter space, and the complexity metric to distances between these geodesics, extending the method to circuits in other symmetry groups using a group theoretic generalization of coherent states concept.

Does Complexity Equal Anything?

Alexandre Belin et al.

Summary: This paper presents a new infinite class of gravitational observables in asymptotically anti-de Sitter space living on codimension-one slices of the geometry, the most famous of which is the volume of the maximal slice. The authors show that these observables display universal features for the thermofield-double state, growing linearly in time at late times and reproducing the switchback effect in shock wave geometries. They argue that any member of this class of observables is an equally viable candidate as the extremal volume for a gravitational dual of complexity.

The final Kasner regime inside black holes with scalar or vector hair

Marc Henneaux

Summary: The final dynamical behavior of the metric inside black holes with massive charged scalar or vector hair is analyzed for general anisotropic and inhomogeneous initial conditions. The solutions are relevant to a holographic realization of superconductivity. However, a subset of solutions characterized by vanishing longitudinal modes exhibit chaotic behavior with an infinite number of BKL oscillations near the singularity.

Kasner geometries inside holographic superconductors

Lewis Sword et al.

Summary: This paper introduces modifications to the holographic superconductor model by adding an axion field term and an Einstein-Maxwell-scalar (EMS) coupling term, and explores their effects on the condensate and black hole interior dynamics. It is found that increasing the EMS coupling parameter changes previously observed features, leading to the geometry entering a Kasner regime after a large-r collapse.

Interior structure and complexity growth rate of holographic superconductor from M-theory

Yu-Sen An et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the interior dynamics of a top-down holographic superconductor from M-theory and discovers that the formation of the superconducting phase is accompanied by a series of intricate interior dynamics, including the collapse of the Einstein-Rosen bridge and the Josephson oscillations of the condensate. There is a sudden change in the internal structure before and after the superconducting phase transition.

The volume of the black hole interior at late times

Luca V. Iliesiu et al.

Summary: Understanding the fate of semi-classical black hole solutions at very late times is an important open question in quantum gravity. In this paper, the authors provide a path integral definition of the volume of the black hole interior and study its evolution at arbitrarily late times. They find that, after a linear growth, the length of the interior saturates at a time and value that is exponentially large in the entropy of the black hole, which supports the complexity equals volume proposal.

Complexity growth in Gubser-Rocha models with momentum relaxation

H. Babaei-Aghbolagh et al.

Summary: The Einstein-Maxwell-Axion-Dilaton (EMAD) theories based on the Gubser-Rocha (GR) model are intriguing for holographic calculations in condensed matter physics. In this paper, the complexity and its time dependence of charged AdS black holes in EMAD theories are investigated using the complexity equals action (CA) conjecture. It is found that the growth rate of holographic complexity violates Lloyd's bound at finite times.

Holographic and QFT complexity with angular momentum

Alice Bernamonti et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the influence of angular momentum on holographic complexity of rotating black holes, revealing similarities with charged black holes. The inclusion of counterterms in the calculation is crucial for understanding the effects, especially in early time dependence. In the grand canonical ensemble, complexity of formation exhibits linear relation with temperature and diverges in the speed of light angular velocity limit.

What's inside a hairy black hole in massive gravity?

Seyed Ali Hosseini Mansoori et al.

Summary: This study investigates holographic flows in the context of massive gravity theories driven by a relevant scalar operator, revealing the mechanisms and singular behaviors of these flows. It is found that the instability triggered by the scalar field leads to a rapid collapse of the Einstein-Rosen bridge, ultimately evolving into a spacetime singularity.

No inner-horizon theorem for black holes with charged scalar hairs

Rong-Gen Cai et al.

Summary: This study establishes a no inner-horizon theorem for black holes with charged scalar hairs, showing that they do not have an inner Cauchy horizon. The geometry near the singularity takes a universal Kasner form when the kinetic term of the scalar hair dominates, and novel behaviors are uncovered when the scalar potential becomes important. For hyperbolic horizon cases, hairy black holes can only have at most one inner horizon. These features also apply to Einstein gravity coupled with neutral scalars.

Complexity from spinning primaries

Robert de Mello Koch et al.

Summary: By defining circuits based on unitary representations of Lorentzian conformal field theory in 3 and 4 dimensions, we are able to generalize formulas for circuit complexity starting from spinning primary states. These results are effectively replicated through the geometry of coadjoint orbits of the conformal group. However, unlike the complexity geometry derived from scalar primary states, the geometry derived from spinning primary states is more intricate and the presence of conjugate points signaling complexity saturation is still unknown.

Insensitivity of the complexity rate of change to the conformal anomaly and Lloyd's bound as a possible renormalization condition

Daniel Avila et al.

Summary: The study shows that the rate of change of computational complexity is independent of the conformal anomaly in both the Mateos-Trancanelli and D'Hoker-Kraus holographic models. The saturation of Lloyd's bound at infinite time can be used as a renormalization condition if desired.

No Cauchy horizon theorem for nonlinear electrodynamics black holes with charged scalar hairs

Yu-Sen An et al.

Summary: This study proves the absence of inner Cauchy horizons in general nonlinear electrodynamics black holes with charged scalar hairs, regardless of the form of scalar potential and nonlinear electrodynamics. It also shows that the null energy condition can rule out the existence of Cauchy horizons for hyperbolic black holes. The complex interior dynamics are closely related to the instability of the inner Cauchy horizon triggered by scalar hairs.

Geometry of quantum complexity

Roberto Auzzi et al.

Summary: The study focuses on quantum computational complexity and its applications in holographic understanding of the black hole interior. By choosing penalty factors, negative curvatures are achieved to reproduce desired features in holography. The relationship between operator and state complexities is analyzed, providing a direct relation between geodesics and curvatures and a closed-form expression for the metric in terms of the operators.
