Nonrelativistic CFTs at large charge: Casimir energy and logarithmic enhancements

Simeon Hellerman et al.

Summary: This study examines the conformal dimensions of charge-Q operators in nonrelativistic conformal field theories from the perspective of the non-linear sigma model. It discusses the renormalization of edge divergences and computes the one-loop Q(0)log Q contribution to the ground-state energy in 3 spatial dimensions.

Spinning correlators in large-charge CFTs

Nicola Dondi et al.

Summary: We systematically study the correlators of a generic conformal field theory with a global O(2) symmetry in a sector of large global charge. Our focus is on three-and four-point correlators with conserved current insertions sandwiched between spinful excited states corresponding to phonons over the large-charge vacuum. We also discuss loop corrections to the scaling dimensions and observe the presence of multiple logarithms in even dimensions.

Subleading conformal dimensions at the O(4) Wilson-Fisher fixed point

Debasish Banerjee et al.

Summary: This work focuses on computing the conformal dimensions of local fields in an SU(2) x SU(2) irreducible representation at the O(4) Wilson-Fisher fixed point using the Monte Carlo method. The results show the relationship between the dimensions of the leading and subleading sectors in the large charge expansion, providing numerical values for certain contributions.

Operator spectrum of nonrelativistic CFTs at large charge

Vito Pellizzani

Summary: In this paper, we extend and clarify the large-charge expansion of the conformal dimension Delta Q of the lowest operator of charge Q in nonrelativistic conformal field theories. By systematically analyzing the degree of divergence of operators in the effective action, we show that there always exist appropriate edge counterterms that make the final contributions to Delta(Q) finite. This result is significant for the Thomas-Fermi approximation in ultracold atom physics.

2D CFTs: Large charge is not enough to control the dynamics

Thiago Araujo et al.

Summary: In this study, we examine two-dimensional conformal field theories with large global charge. We find that the large-charge sector can be used in a double-scaling limit, and investigate the general features of the spectrum of models that can be described by a nonlinear sigma model in a Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin approximation.

Classical solutions of λ-deformed coset models

Dimitrios Katsinis et al.

Summary: In this study, classical solutions of lambda-deformed sigma-models based on SL(2, R)/ U(1) and SU(2)/U(1) coset manifolds were obtained and classified into two distinct classes represented by different functions. The properties, boundary conditions, and string systems described by these solutions were analyzed. Notably, a similarity between the solutions of the second class and the motion of a pendulum was observed.

A note on the large charge expansion in 4d CFT

Gabriel Cuomo

Summary: This study discusses universal predictions of large charge expansion in conformal field theories with U(1) symmetry, particularly in four-dimensional theories. It was found that there is a universal Q(0) log Q correction in four dimensions, and the first subleading correction to the OPE coefficient was computed in both three and four dimensions.

Transition of large R-charge operators on a conformal manifold

Adar Sharon et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the transition between phases at large R-charge on a conformal manifold by analyzing the behavior of the lowest operator dimension. The results show a smooth transition and a first-order phase transition in different limits, indicating the existence of a moduli space and an infinite chiral ring.

Boundary conformal field theory at large charge

Gabriel Cuomo et al.

Summary: In the study of operators with large internal charge in BCFTs with internal symmetries, a non-trivial relation between the scaling dimension of the lowest dimensional CFT and charged operators in BCFTs was found. Additionally, a superfluid effective field theory was constructed to systematically calculate the BCFT spectrum, and predictions from the EFT analysis were explicitly verified in specific examples. Furthermore, a systematic background field approach towards Ward identities in general boundary and defect conformal field theories was discussed, along with its relation to Noether's theorem in perturbative theories.

S-duality and correlation functions at large R-charge

Simeon Hellerman et al.

Summary: In this study, the ratio of pairs of adjacent correlators of Coulomb-branch operators in SU(2) N = 2 sqcd with four flavors was investigated within the large quantum number expansion framework. Utilizing the order-by-order S-duality invariance of the large-R-charge expansion, the dependence of the leading large- behavior on the marginal coupling tau was computed ab initio, showing excellent agreement with numerical estimates from localization.

Selected topics in the large quantum number expansion

Luis Alvarez-Gaume et al.

Summary: This review explores quantum field theories and conformal field theories with global symmetries in the large charge limit, revealing that at low energies, the sectors with large charge can be described using a hybrid form of Goldstone's theorem. The associated effective field theory in the infrared enables computation of anomalous dimensions and operator product expansion coefficients, offering a well-defined expansion in inverse powers of the global charge.

More on the cubic versus quartic interaction equivalence in the O(N) model

Oleg Antipin et al.

Summary: The scaling dimensions of a family of fixed-charge operators in the O(N) model with cubic interactions in d = 6 - epsilon dimensions were computed. The results were used to analyze the conjectured equivalence with the O(N) model featuring quartic interactions. By comparing the scaling dimensions of the cubic model with the known large N results for the quartic model, it was demonstrated that they match, reinforcing the conjectured equivalence and providing new insights into finite N physics.

On the large charge sector in the critical O(N) model at large N

Simone Giombi et al.

Summary: In this study, operators in the rank-j totally symmetric representation of O(N) in the critical O(N) model in arbitrary dimension d are analyzed in the limit of large N and large charge j. The scaling dimensions of the operators in this limit are obtained through semiclassical saddle point calculation. Results show that in 4 < d < 6, the scaling dimension of the large charge operators becomes complex above a critical value of the ratio j/N, indicating instability of the theory in that range of d. Additionally, correlation functions involving heavy and light operators are derived, with a focus on heavy-heavy-light OPE coefficients as a function of charges and d.

Untangling scaling dimensions of fixed charge operators in Higgs theories

Oleg Antipin et al.

Summary: This study introduces a new strategy to determine the anomalous dimensions of different operators in non-Abelian symmetry groups without the need for diagrammatic computations. By applying this computational strategy, the anomalous dimensions of several composite operators in the U(N) x U(M) model were successfully determined. The powerful combination of semiclassical methods and group theory allowed for the extraction of scaling dimensions for a wide range of operators for the first time.

OPE meets semiclassics

Gabriel Cuomo

Summary: In this study, it is shown that the correlator of three large charge operators with minimal scaling dimension in conformal field theories (CFTs) with a U(1) symmetry can be computed semiclassically for arbitrary fixed values of the ratios of their charges. The operator product expansion coefficient is explicitly obtained from numerical solutions in the conformal superfluid effective field theory in 3D, applicable to all 3D CFTs with a U(1) symmetry whose large charge sector is a superfluid.
