Effect of different fertilizers on the physicochemical properties, chemical element and volatile composition of cucumbers

Si Mi et al.

Summary: The co-application of chicken manure and NPK 17-17-17 fertilizer showed the best texture properties, while adding microbial fertilizer significantly improved the color quality of cucumbers. Additionally, combining chicken manure, NPK 17-17-17 fertilizer, and microbial fertilizer enhanced the number and abundance of volatile components in cucumbers.

Characterization of Differences in the Composition and Content of Volatile Compounds in Cucumber Fruit

Jie Zhang et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in different cucumber cultivars and found significant differences in types and contents among the cultivars. The YX cultivar had the highest VOCs content, which mainly included hydrocarbons, aldehydes, and ketones. These findings are important for understanding the impact of cultivars on cucumber VOCs and facilitating targeted breeding.

Fresh Cucumber Fruit Physicochemical Properties, Consumer Acceptance, and Impact of Variety and Harvest Date

Xiaofen Du et al.

Summary: This study explores the consumer acceptance of different cucumber varieties and their correlation with physiochemical properties. The results show that consumer acceptance is positively related to the overall texture, taste, and aroma, but negatively related to sourness, bitterness, astringency, and off-flavors. Fruit firmness is positively correlated with sensory crispiness and negatively correlated with juiciness. There are significant differences in consumer acceptance and physicochemical parameters among fruits harvested at different dates.
