Dietary Calcium Alleviates Fluorine-Induced Liver Injury in Rats by Mitochondrial Apoptosis Pathway

Haojie Li et al.

Summary: Excessive fluoride exposure induced liver damage and oxidative stress, activating mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis. However, supplementation of 1% calcium carbonate alleviated fluoride-induced liver cell damage through inhibiting the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway.

Saikosaponin d Alleviates Liver Fibrosis by Negatively Regulating the ROS/NLRP3 Inflammasome Through Activating the ERβ Pathway

Kehui Zhang et al.

Summary: This study revealed that SSd alleviated liver fibrosis by negatively regulating the ROS/NLRP3 inflammasome through activating the ER beta pathway. The intervention of SSd in liver fibrosis mouse models decreased liver pathology damage, reduced expression of fibrosis markers, and lowered fibrosis scores.

Improvement in insulin sensitivity and prevention of high fat diet-induced liver pathology using a CXCR2 antagonist

Brett E. Phillips et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the effectiveness of a selective CXCR2 antagonist in improving insulin sensitivity and preventing the progression of liver pathology similar to NAFLD/NASH. It provides a novel approach to target insulin resistance and developing liver pathology under T2D-susceptible conditions, and extends the role of neutrophils in the chronic inflammatory state of liver-specific co-morbid conditions.

Hepatoprotective Efficacy and Interventional Mechanism of Qijia Rougan Decoction in Liver Fibrosis

Xiao-Feng Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects and mechanisms of Qijia Rougan decoction, a modified traditional Chinese medicine, on liver fibrosis. The results showed that Qijia Rougan decoction significantly attenuated hepatic fibrotic injury and improved liver function and fibrosis. It regulated processes such as oxidation-reduction, fatty acid metabolism, cell adhesion, and TGF beta signaling, and inhibited inflammatory reactions and fibrosis-related TGF beta signaling. This study deepened our understanding of the diagnosis and treatment of liver fibrosis using traditional Chinese medicine.

Fluoride regulates chondrocyte proliferation and autophagy via PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway

Lan Ma et al.

Summary: Fluoride inhibits chondrocyte proliferation and promotes autophagy through the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway in chondrogenesis. The study also showed that fluoride downregulates the mTOR signaling pathway-related genes and is associated with changes in autophagy-related gene expressions. MHY1485, a small-molecular mTOR activator, can reverse the fluoride-induced promotion of autophagy and recover the downregulation of proliferative chondrocyte markers induced by fluoride in chondrogenic cells.
