Wool waste used as sustainable nonwoven for building applications

Summary: The study evaluated the potential conversion of wool waste into new raw materials suitable for building components by exploring the hygrothermal, acoustic and nonacoustic properties of nonwovens made of 100% wool waste fibers thermally bonded with polyester/copolyester bi-component fibers. The results showed that the tested nonwovens may represent a valid alternative for building applications, thus indicating a new research area in the field.

Synthesis and Characterization of Nonwoven Cotton-Reinforced Cellulose Hydrogel for Wound Dressings

Summary: This study fabricated cellulose hydrogel using the sol-gel technique and reinforced it with nonwoven cotton for sustainable wound dressing application. The composite hydrogels showed good moisture management and air permeability, and exhibited significantly improved fluid absorptive capacity compared to pure nonwoven cotton. The results demonstrate successful hydrogel formation with excellent absorbing, antimicrobial, and sustainable properties.

Aerogels in drug delivery: From design to application

This review highlights the recent advances in aerogels for drug delivery, focusing on loading efficiency, release kinetics, therapeutic demands, as well as gene therapy and life cycle assessment.
