Expanding the Boundary of Biorefinery: Organonitrogen Chemicals from Biomass

Xi Chen et al.

Summary: Organonitrogen chemicals play crucial roles in pharmaceutical and agricultural products, but current industrial processes rely on nonrenewable resources, urging the need to develop sustainable alternatives. Biomass, as the largest renewable carbon resource, offers a promising solution to integrate into the organonitrogen chemical supply chain for reducing carbon footprint and enhancing economic competitiveness.

Highly Efficient Oxidative Cyanation of Aldehydes to Nitriles over Se,S,N-tri-Doped Hierarchically Porous Carbon Nanosheets

Manli Hua et al.

Summary: The study introduces a promising strategy for cyanide-free synthesis of organic nitriles through oxidative cyanation of aldehydes using a designed Se,S,N-tri-doped carbon nanosheets catalyst. The catalyst demonstrated high selectivity and efficiency, attributed to the synergistic effect between different elements in the catalyst and its hierarchically porous structure. This metal-free catalyst is capable of tolerating other oxidizable groups while maintaining high selectivity in the reaction process.

Sandmeyer-Type Reductive Disulfuration of Anilines

Shiqi Chen et al.

Summary: The study presents a transition metal/ligand-free disulfuration of anilines with disulfur transfer reagents, resembling a reductive disulfuration variation of the Sandmeyer reaction. The method shows a wide scope across aniline substrate and disulfur transfer reagent classes, enabling successful gram-scale synthesis of disulfides.

The ammoxidation of alcohols over heterogeneous catalysts for the green synthesis of nitriles

Zhijie Qi et al.

Summary: Nitriles are important synthetic intermediates, and developing new methods for their green synthesis is significant. Among these, the ammoxidation of alcohols over heterogeneous catalysts is a sustainable process due to its economic efficiency and the use of affordable raw materials and recyclable catalysts. This review summarizes the latest progress in developing heterogeneous catalysts for transforming alcohols into nitriles and discusses their preparation, functionalization strategies, and roles in these reactions.
