Robust Two-Stage Location Allocation for Emergency Temporary Blood Supply in Postdisaster

Dongqing Luan et al.

Summary: This paper studies the robust location-allocation for emergency temporary blood supply after disaster in China. A robust location model is proposed with minimum cost and time window constraints. Experimental results show that increased demand uncertainty and survival probability lead to higher costs. The optimal robust model is the MIRP-ellipsoid set model, which can reduce costs and improve survival probability with necessary time window constraints.

DEM resolution effects on machine learning performance for flood probability mapping

Mohammadtaghi Avand et al.

Summary: Assessing the impact of the spatial resolution of Digital Elevation Models on flood probability prediction accuracy, it was found that resolving the DEM alone does not significantly affect the accuracy, while factors like altitude, precipitation, and distance from the river have a considerable impact on floods in the region. The Random Forest model is more accurate in preparing Flood Probability Maps than Artificial Neural Network and Generalized Linear Model.

Summary: This paper focuses on the impact of mega-dam construction on regional climate, specifically analyzing the influence of Xiaolangdi Dam on the Yellow River and Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River. The results show that dam construction led to a decrease in temperature in the reservoir area and an increase in temperature in the downstream area. The rise in water level also caused a decrease in temperature in the reservoir area and reduced the temperature difference.
