Study on isotherm, kinetics, and thermodynamics of adsorption of crystal violet dye by calcium oxide modified fly ash

Sagnik Chakraborty et al.

Summary: In this study, fly ash modified with calcium oxide was used to remove crystal violet dyestuff from a simulated solution. The results indicated that the Langmuir model was suitable, the adsorption mechanism occurred in a monolayer on the fly ash surface, and the adsorption process followed the Pseudo-second order and intrapartide diffusion model.

Adsorption characteristics of modified rice straw biochar for Zn and in-situ remediation of Zn contaminated soil

Shichao Liu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the adsorption characteristics of different biochars on Zn in farmland soil and found that biochar from pyrolysis of alkali modified rice straw (KRBC) had the strongest immobilization ability for Zn. This was attributed to its larger specific surface area, richer porosity, and ability to improve soil pH and soil organic carbon effectively. The research provides theoretical and technical support for the remediation of Zn contaminated soil.

TEMPO-oxidized cellulose hydrogel for efficient adsorption of Cu2+ and Pb2+ modified by polyethyleneimine

Xinyi Xing et al.

Summary: The study prepared hydrogels by dissolving and regenerating poplar cellulose in NaOH/urea/water system, and then used microwave-assisted accelerated TEMPO oxidation to produce TEMPO-oxidized cellulose hydrogels (TCH) which were then grafted with polyethyleneimine (PEI) to form TCP. TCP showed high adsorption capacities for Cu2+ and Pb2+ and exhibited better fitting with the Langmuir model, with higher affinity to Cu2+ and faster adsorption rate for Pb2+ compared to Cu2+. Overall, TCP demonstrated promising potential as an efficient and recyclable adsorbent for treating heavy metal-containing wastewater.
