Evidence of the dominant role of particle size in controlling the dynamic adsorption breakthrough behavior of gaseous benzene in a microporous carbon bed system

Seung-Ho Ha et al.

Summary: The study on the adsorption of VOCs showed that particle size and flow rate play crucial roles in the performance of AC beds. Smaller particles and lower flow rates result in higher adsorption capacity, while larger particles and higher flow rates are beneficial for achieving 100% breakthrough. Kinetic modeling highlighted the impact of carbon particle size on benzene uptake rate.

Phenol Adsorption Mechanism of Organically Modified Bentonite and Its Microstructural Changes

Haijie He et al.

Summary: This study investigated the adsorption of phenol onto cetyltrimethylammonium bromide modified bentonite (OMB). The results showed that the adsorption rate of phenol was positively correlated with the initial concentration, and the maximum adsorption capacity was 10.1 mg/g. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model was found to better describe the adsorption kinetics. Additionally, the properties of OMB samples with different adsorption times were analyzed using SEM and XRD.

Study on optimal adsorption conditions of norfloxacin in water based on response surface methodology

Ming Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the use of waste pomelo peel, pyrolyzed to produce biochar, as an adsorbent for removing norfloxacin from simulated wastewater. The adsorption conditions of norfloxacin by biochar were optimized using response surface methodology. The results showed that the optimized conditions for the highest removal efficiency and adsorption capacity of norfloxacin were a biochar dosage of 0.5 g/L, pH of 3, and reaction temperature of 45 degrees C. The theoretical model constructed by response surface methodology was found to be reliable for optimizing the adsorption conditions of norfloxacin in water.

Individual and Competitive Adsorption of Negatively Charged Acid Blue 25 and Acid Red 1 onto Raw Indonesian Kaolin Clay

M. Ashrul Asbollah et al.

Summary: In this study, the adsorption of AB25 and AR1 onto raw Indonesian kaolin was investigated. The results showed that the adsorption of AB25 and AR1 followed pseudo-second-order kinetics and occurred on a homogeneous monolayer of the basal surfaces of kaolinite particles. Thermodynamic parameters indicated that the adsorption was spontaneous and exothermic. The co-adsorption of the two dyes was found to be competitive.

Preparation and Characterization of Magnetic Iron Nanoparticles on Alginate/Bentonite Substrate for the Adsorptive Removal of Pb2+ Ions to Protect the Environment

Mousa Yari et al.

Summary: This study successfully demonstrated the effective adsorption and elimination of lead ions using bentonite magnetic nanoparticles and alginate beads. The optimal conditions for lead ion removal were found to be using 0.1 g of beads in a solution pH of 7 with a contact time of 8 hours and a stirring rate of 100 rpm. The adsorption efficiency reached about 98% for 30 ppm Pb2+ solution, following the Freundlich isotherm model.

Optimization of Fluoride Adsorption on Acid Modified Bentonite Clay Using Fixed-Bed Column by Response Surface Method

Adane Woldemedhin Kalsido et al.

Summary: In this study, column adsorption studies on acid-treated Bentonite for fluoride removal indicated an optimized operating condition with 100% removal rate, adsorptive capacity of 2.46 mg/g, and desirability of 1.0. The relationship between experimental and expected response values was analyzed, and variance analysis determined the importance of independent variables and their interactions, ultimately proving the success of acid activation for field application of Bentonite adsorbent.

Toward broader applications of iron ore waste in pollution control: Adsorption of norfloxacin

Nan Fang et al.

Summary: Norfloxacin, a commonly detected antibiotic, can be effectively removed by iron ore waste. The adsorption process reaches equilibrium at 72 hours, with the primary mechanism being cation exchange. This study found that iron ore waste has the potential for removing environmental pollutants in aquatic environments.
