Advances in Nanostructured Polyamide-Based Chemical Sensors

Nokuthula Khanyile

Summary: Nanofibers have great potential for use in sensors, either as supporting materials or for interacting with other materials. Polyamide nanofibers, with their excellent chemical resistance, mechanical properties, and high surface area to volume ratio, are promising candidates for sensor development. This paper reviews the development of chemical sensors based on nanostructured polyamide in the past two decades (2000-2020).

Current perspectives on the environmental applications using conductive metal-organic frameworks (CMOFs)

Tushar Singh et al.

Summary: This article reviews the recent development of conductive metal-organic frameworks (CMOFs) and their diverse applications in the fields of energy and environment. Various strategies to enhance the conductivity of poor conductive MOFs are discussed, and the state of the art on experimental/computational aspects and environmental applications of CMOFs are presented to guide researchers towards real-time utility of MOFs.

Dummy Molecularly Imprinted Polymers Using DNP as a Template Molecule for Explosive Sensing and Nitroaromatic Compound Discrimination

Anna Herrera-Chacon et al.

Summary: This study introduces a voltammetric sensor based on a dummy molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) for the detection of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) and 2,4-dinitrophenol (DNP). The sensor is cost-effective, rapid, and simple to use. Chemometric tools, particularly principal component analysis (PCA), demonstrate the sensor's potential applications in environmental settings for discriminating nitroaromatic and potential interfering species.

Yearly variation in characteristics and health risk of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and nitro-PAHs in urban shanghai from 2010-2018

Lu Yang et al.

Summary: The study conducted regular observations of PAHs and NPAHs in particulate matter in Shanghai from 2010 to 2018. It found that PAH concentrations decreased in summer in 2013 and 2017, but increased in 2015 compared to 2010, while concentrations decreased in winter over the same period. The concentrations were influenced by ambient temperature and primarily by traffic emissions.

Group 4 Metal-Based Metal-Organic Frameworks for Chemical Sensors

Souvik Pal et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been attracting attention for their high porosity and potential applications in chemical sensors, especially those constructed from group 4 metals for operations in aqueous media. Despite efforts in utilizing these MOFs for sensor development, challenges and concerns still exist, highlighting the need for further research and exploration in this area.

Towards point-of-care diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease: Multi-analyte based portable chemiresistive platform for simultaneous detection of β-amyloid (1-40) and (1-42) in plasma

Patta Supraja et al.

Summary: This study presents a label-free method for simultaneous detection of Alzheimer's disease-specific biomarkers A beta 40 and A beta 42 peptides using polypyrrole nanoparticle-based chemiresistive biosensors on a single platform. The method can detect A beta 40 and A beta 42 in spiked-plasma within a range of 10(-14) - 10(-6) g/mL, with low detection limits, enabling the estimation of diagnostically significant A beta 42/A beta 40 ratio.
