Caregiver's Provision of Non-Recommended Commercially Prepared Milk-Based Drinks to Infants and Toddlers

Maria J. Romo-Palafox et al.

Summary: The study found that most caregivers of infants and toddlers provide breastmilk or commercially prepared infant formula, with 12-month-old infants receiving more commercially prepared formula and cow's milk. Most caregivers of toddlers primarily provide cow's milk, with some offering other non-recommended milk types. Milk type provision is significantly associated with child's age, household income, and race, and agreement with marketing claims can impact the association between milk type provision and sociodemographic characteristics.
