Changes in Nicotine Dependence Among Smokers Using Electronic Cigarettes to Reduce Cigarette Smoking in a Randomized Controlled Trial

Jessica Yingst et al.

Summary: This study found that using electronic cigarettes can reduce cigarette dependence without significantly increasing total nicotine exposure. Reasons for individual and concurrent use of vaped nicotine and cannabis: their similarities, differences, and association with product use

Danielle M. Smith et al.

Summary: Understanding the reasons behind nicotine and cannabis vaping is crucial for identifying contributors to their co-use. The study found that while user experience and substance-related reasons for use were similar between cannabis vaping and smoking, utility-related reasons were higher for cannabis vaping. Nicotine vaping was more associated with harm reduction, while cannabis vaping was related to social issues. These findings highlight the need to consider both shared and unique aspects of nicotine and cannabis vaping, as well as their interactions.
