Farmers Aren't into the Emotions and Things, Right?: A Qualitative Exploration of Motivations and Barriers for Mental Health Help-Seeking among Canadian Farmers

Briana N. M. Hagen et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore motivations and barriers to help-seeking for mental health among farmers, through interviews with farmers and individuals who work with farmers. The analysis revealed five main themes: Accessibility of mental health supports and services, Stigma around mental health in the agricultural community, Anonymity and/or lack of anonymity in seeking support, Farm credibility, and Recommendations for implementing mental health services for the agricultural community. Insights were provided on how farming culture and service accessibility may affect help-seeking behaviors, along with proposed strategies to address barriers in this population.

Telephone coaching for the prevention of depression in depression in farmers: Results from a pragmatic from a pragmatic randomized controlled trial

Janika Thielecke et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness of personalized telephone coaching in reducing depressive symptom severity and preventing MDD in farmers. The results showed that personalized telephone coaching significantly reduced depressive symptom severity and improved stress, anxiety, somatic symptoms, burnout risk, and quality of life. The study suggests that personalized telephone coaching plays an important role in intervening at an early stage of mental health problems and reducing disease burden related to MDD.

Barriers to and Facilitators of Engaging With and Adhering to Guided Internet-Based Interventions for Depression Prevention and Reduction of Pain-Related Disability in Green Professions: Mixed Methods Study

Lina Braun et al.

Summary: This study qualitatively evaluated barriers and facilitators of guided internet-based interventions (IBIs) in the green professions. The findings showed that common barriers included time-consuming work and personal life, while factors such as motivation, curiosity, interest, and flexible time management facilitated engagement. Those who completed the intervention were more likely to agree with perceived success of the IBI, while non-completers identified insufficient e-coach contact and technical problems as hindrances.

Are guided internet-based interventions for the indicated prevention of depression in green professions effective in the long run? Longitudinal analysis of the 6-and 12-month follow-up of a pragmatic randomized controlled trial (PROD-A)

Lina Braun et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the long-term effectiveness of a depression prevention program in green professions, showing superior results for the intervention group in depression severity, insomnia, pain-associated disability, and quality of life at 6 months but no intervention effects at 12 months. Longitudinal modeling confirmed diminishing group effects over 12 months for most outcomes.

Online Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) interventions for chronic pain: A systematic literature review

D. L. van de Graaf et al.

Summary: A systematic review of literature on online Acceptance and Commitment Therapy interventions for chronic pain found that most studies described the intervention processes, but provided limited information on adherence and design rationales. The majority of interventions were effective according to studies including RCTs, but lacked details on optimizing the fit between task, technology, and user. Considerations behind intervention features and design rationales could help in optimizing future online ACT interventions, and more attention should be given to the measurement and operationalization of adherence for better effectiveness.

Eileen Bendig et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the feasibility and effects of internet-based cognitive-behavioral depression intervention for people with CAD and depressive symptoms. However, recruitment difficulties and high intervention dropout rates led to early termination of the trial, with non-significant differences between intervention and control groups in depression, anxiety, and quality of life.
