FCDNet: A Change Detection Network Based on Full-Scale Skip Connections and Coordinate Attention

Xuezhi Xiang et al.

Summary: Change detection using deep learning methods still face difficulties in detecting changing target edges and small targets. In this paper, a novel CD method named FCDNet is proposed, which utilizes full-scale skip connections and coordinate attention to address these challenges. By utilizing shallow information and high-level semantics and enhancing local relationships and long-distance dependencies, the proposed method achieves comparable performance to state-of-the-art methods.

Basin-wide flood depth and exposure mapping from SAR images and machine learning models

Chen Hao et al.

Summary: Recent years have seen an increase in short-duration, high-intensity rainfall events in the Indian subcontinent leading to urban and riverine flash floods. A rapid mapping methodology based on SAR images and a DEM has been presented to effectively assess flood areas, with a focus on the heavy riverine flooding in southern India in August 2019. This approach proved highly reliable and accurate, making it a valuable tool for flood risk assessment in other areas with incomplete inventory.
