Particle-bound polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in typical urban of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau: Characterization, sources and risk assessment

Yaoqian Zhong et al.

Summary: This study measured particle-associated PAHs in monthly ambient samples collected in Yuxi, a high-altitude city in Southeast Asia. The results showed that the concentration of PM2.5-bound PAHs was significantly higher in winter compared to summer, mainly due to source and meteorological influences. Fossil fuel combustion and biomass burning were identified as the main contributors to PAHs, and their environmental fate and migration paths varied.

Profiling and assessing soil-air exchange of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in playground dust and soil using ex situ equilibrium passive sampling

Dat Thanh Pham et al.

Summary: Cancer risk is associated with exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in playground dust and soil. This study found that coal combustion and vehicular emissions are the main sources of PAHs, and higher organic carbon content and atmospheric deposition contribute to the accumulation of PAHs.

Local and regional contributions to PM2.5 in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics infrastructure areas during haze episodes

Yue Wang et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the characteristics and source apportionment of PM2.5 in the 2022 Winter Olympics host cities Beijing and Zhangjiakou, highlighting regional transportation as a major contributor and revealing differences in pollution sources between the two cities. Zhangjiakou was more influenced by regional transportation, while Beijing's local emissions made a more significant contribution.
