Inhibition of Notch activity suppresses hyperglycemia-augmented polarization of macrophages to the M1 phenotype and alleviates acute pancreatitis

Ning Hu et al.

Summary: The study revealed that hyperglycemia can induce excessive activation of Notch signaling, leading to pancreatic tissue damage during acute pancreatitis. Inhibiting Notch signaling can reduce the number of M1 macrophages and decrease the production of proinflammatory factors, thus alleviating pancreatic injury.

Systemic anticoagulation is associated with decreased mortality and morbidity in acute pancreatitis

Paul T. Kroner et al.

Summary: This study explored the association of systemic anticoagulation therapy before AP onset with inpatient outcomes in patients with acute pancreatitis. Patients on anticoagulation had lower risk for ICU admission, acute kidney injury, organ failure, or inpatient mortality, but longer hospital length of stay and higher hospital costs.
