Effect of immersive visualization technologies on cognitive load, motivation, usability, and embodiment

N. Wenk et al.

Summary: Virtual reality (VR) is a promising tool for motor (re)learning, with head-mounted displays (HMDs) providing a more immersive and motivating experience compared to 2D screens. Augmented reality (AR) technology's efficacy in motor learning remains unclear and requires further investigation.

Virtual reality rehabilitation in children with brain injury: a randomized controlled trial

Ja Young Choi et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the efficacy of a virtual reality rehabilitation system using wearable multi-inertial sensors in improving upper-limb function in children with brain injury. Results showed that the virtual reality group demonstrated significantly greater improvements in upper-limb dexterity functions, performance of activities of daily living, and forearm supination compared to the control group, especially in children with more severe motor impairment.

Association of Individual Factors with Simulator Sickness and Sense of Presence in Virtual Reality Mediated by Head-Mounted Displays (HMDs)

Simone Grassini et al.

Summary: Studies have found that motion sickness susceptibility is related to simulator sickness, while neuroticism may also be associated with and predict simulator sickness. Individuals who are more accustomed to playing video games are less susceptible to simulator sickness, and females are more likely to experience simulator sickness compared to males, particularly in nausea-related symptoms. Additionally, females tend to experience a higher sense of presence in virtual reality environments compared to males. Further research using modern head-mounted displays is recommended to replicate these findings.
