Ilioinguinal versus modified Stoppa approach for open reduction and internal fixation of displaced acetabular fractures: a systematic review and meta-analysis of 717 patients across ten studies

Amit Srivastava et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis compares the outcomes of ilioinguinal and modified Stoppa approaches for open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of displaced acetabular fractures. The results show that the modified Stoppa approach has advantages in terms of shorter surgery duration, less intraoperative blood loss, fewer overall complications, and lower postoperative infection rates compared to the ilioinguinal approach. However, the ilioinguinal approach achieves better fracture reduction quality. The results were inconclusive for vascular injuries, nerve injuries, heterotopic ossification, and clinical outcome between the two groups.

Summary: The study evaluated the effectiveness of QLS plates in combination with the AIP approach for the treatment of acetabular fractures with anterior involvement. Results showed a significant relationship between radiological outcomes and clinical outcomes.
