The F11 Receptor (F11R)/Junctional Adhesion Molecule-A (JAM-A) (F11R/JAM-A) in cancer progression

Kamila Czubak-Prowizor et al.

Summary: F11R/JAM-A is a transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily that plays a role in regulating various biological processes in cells. Its involvement in carcinogenesis and tissue-specific roles in cancer progression are still debated topics in research.

Downregulation of E-cadherin in pluripotent stem cells triggers partial EMT

C. E. Aban et al.

Summary: Research using CRISPR interference system in human embryonic stem cells revealed that downregulation of E-cadherin leads to incomplete EMT, accompanied by molecular changes such as upregulation of SNAI1 and SNAI2, and downregulation of MALAT1 and LINC-ROR.

V-Set and Immunoglobulin Domain-Containing 1 (VSIG1), Predominantly Expressed in Testicular Germ Cells, Is Dispensable for Spermatogenesis and Male Fertility in Mice

Yena Jung et al.

Summary: The study investigated the functional role of VSIG1 in spermatogenesis and fertilization by knocking out VSIG1 in mouse embryos using CRISPR/Cas9. Results showed that the lack of VSIG1 did not impact spermatogenesis and male fertility in mice, suggesting it may not play essential roles in these processes. Further investigations are needed to understand the importance and molecular mechanism of VSIG1 in tissues of other species.

Interaction between cadherins, vimentin, and V-set and immunoglobulin domain containing 1 in gastric-type hepatocellular carcinoma

Simona Gurzu et al.

Summary: This study examined the expression of VSIG1 in HCC samples and found that VSIG1 was positively correlated with E-cadherin and N-cadherin, but negatively correlated with VIM. Co-expression of VSIG1 with TTF1 was also observed in some cases, indicating a potential lineage shift from conventional to gastric-type HCC. The interaction between VSIG1/VIM/CDH1/CDH2 genes might be regulated by miR-200b-3p, a central regulator of EMT.
