Adsorption behavior of rhamnolipid modified magnetic Co/Al layered double hydroxide for the removal of cationic and anionic dyes

Asiyeh Kheradmand et al.

Summary: Magnetic rhamnolipid-Co/Al layered double hydroxide (MR-LDH) was synthesized and used for the adsorption of methylene blue (MB) and reactive orange 16 (RO16) from aqueous solution. MR-LDH displayed better removal efficiency for MB in alkaline medium and for RO16 in acidic medium. The Langmuir model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model provided the best fit for the adsorption of both dyes.

Influence of the alkyl chain length of surfactant on adsorption process: A case study

Hadi Shayesteh et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of alkyl chain length of surfactant on the adsorption process behavior by modifying mineral pumice with different surfactants. It was found that an extended surfactant chain increased the adsorption capacity, with the Langmuir isotherm model showing the best fit to the experimental data. The results suggest that hydrophobic interactions of the modifiers play a role in the adsorption processes.

Summary: The study found that 0.5 g Ct-AhP was able to effectively remove 20-120 mg/L of RO16 within 180 minutes of agitation at 150 rpm. Freundlich isotherm showed good fit, and pseudo-second order kinetic data explained RO16 removal by Ct-AhP involving chemisorption. Thermodynamic parametric values indicated that RO16 biosorption was spontaneous, feasible, and involved an exothermic type of heat.
