Synthesis and Characterization of Cellulose Triacetate Obtained from Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) Trunk Mesh-Derived Cellulose

Hamid M. Shaikh et al.

Summary: Cellulosic polysaccharides are recognized as a viable alternative to petro-based feedstock for obtaining bio-based materials. In this study, cellulose triacetate was synthesized from waste lignocellulosic material of date palm and compared with a commercially available derivative. The synthesized cellulose ester showed similar properties and can be used for fabricating biodegradable cellulose-based composites.
