Highly enhanced photocatalytic toluene degradation and in situ FT-IR investigation on designed Sn-doped BiOCl nanosheets

Wenjun Ma et al.

Summary: In this study, Sn-doped BiOCl nanosheets photocatalyst was synthesized and applied to the photocatalytic purification of toluene. Results showed that doped Sn atoms could enhance light absorption, separation, and migration of photo-generated carriers, while different reaction mechanisms were observed for BOC-Sn and BOC samples.

Conventional versus microwave-assisted roasting of sulfidic tailings: Mineralogical transformation and metal leaching behavior

Nor Kamariah et al.

Summary: This study compared the effects of conventional roasting (CR) and microwave-assisted roasting (MR) on the transformation of sulfidic tailings. It was found that MR accelerated the oxidation rate of pyrite and resulted in a different reaction pathway compared to CR. The leaching experiments showed that CR extracted more targeted metals from the tailings compared to MR.

The mechanism of suspension reduction on Fe enrichment with low-grade carbonate-containing iron ore

Shuai Yuan et al.

Summary: An efficient suspension magnetizing roasting technology was proposed to extract iron minerals from carbonate-containing iron ore. A concentrate with 67.20% total Fe and 83.35% iron recovery was achieved under the optimal conditions. The phase transformation and microstructure evolution of the samples before and after roasting were characterized, revealing the selective transformation of iron mineral phases and effective enrichment through magnetic separation.

Magnetite oxidation mechanism of the air-cooling stage for limonite ore magnetization roasting

Xinran Zhu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the magnetite oxidation mechanism of the air-cooling stage during limonite ore magnetization roasting, and found that magnetite was oxidized to maghemite in a controlled air atmosphere, which did not affect the subsequent magnetic separation.

Improved iron recovery from low-grade iron ore by efficient suspension magnetization roasting and magnetic separation

Shuai Yuan et al.

Summary: Considering the decreasing reserves of high-grade iron ores, the utilization of low-grade iron ores is crucial to the steel industry. This study investigated the effects of reverse flotation and suspension magnetization roasting-magnetic separation on the Fe grade and recovery from low-grade iron ores. The results showed that the optimized suspension magnetization roasting-magnetic separation process significantly enhanced the Fe grade and recovery rate by reducing hematite to magnetite and forming cracks to accelerate the magnetization reaction in the iron ore.

An efficient process to upgrade siderite ore by pre oxidation-magnetization roasting-magnetic separation-acid leaching

Dingzheng Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a new process for separating and recovering iron from siderite ore with high magnesium and manganese was developed, achieving a high-grade iron concentrate through pre-oxidation and magnetization roasting. Pre-oxidation improved the reduction efficiency in magnetization roasting, leading to the removal of most gangue minerals while retaining manganese and some magnesium in the final concentrate.

On the use of the model-free way method for kinetic analysis of thermoanalytical data - advantages and limitations

P. Budrugeac

Summary: This paper explores the possibility of using the MFW method to evaluate the kinetic triplet of a single-step process and introduces two MFW procedures. By analyzing simulated non-isothermal data and experimental thermogravimetric data, the values of E and A, as well as the reconstruction of the conversion function, were determined. It is found that the results obtained by the MFW procedures can indicate the real expression of the conversion function, but are not sufficient for the unambiguous determination of the real conversion function.

Recycling iron from oolitic hematite via microwave fluidization roasting and magnetic separation

Wentao Zhou et al.

Summary: In this study, a clean and innovative microwave fluidization roasting method was developed to recover iron resources from oolitic hematite. The microwave pretreatment promoted the formation of microcracks at mineral interfaces, accelerating the reaction and phase transformation during magnetization roasting. The iron mineral phase was selectively transformed into strongly magnetic magnetite, and the iron mineral was effectively recycled from the roasted samples through magnetic separation.

Summary: A green self-magnetization roasting technology for producing magnetite without additional additives was proposed and investigated in this study. The study revealed the regulatory mechanisms of main factors on the roasting process and showed that the process can be divided into two stages based on kinetic and phase transformation results. High-quality iron concentrate was obtained under optimal roasting conditions.

Beneficiation of low-grade, goethite-rich iron ore using microwave-assisted magnetizing roasting

V. Nunna et al.

Summary: Microwave-assisted reduction roasting of reject iron ore waste stream rich in goethite was used to produce high-grade concentrate, with optimal conditions leading to conversion of goethite to synthetic magnetite. Higher reduction temperatures led to greater conversion of goethite to magnetite, but caution is needed to avoid over-reduction which could complicate subsequent beneficiation processes.
