Controlled Co-delivery of pPDGF-B and pBMP-2 from intraoperatively bioprinted bone constructs improves the repair of calvarial defects in rats

Summary: In this study, we demonstrated a novel approach to directly deliver gene-activated matrices into craniofacial defect sites through intraoperative bioprinting. The controlled co-delivery of growth factors from the bioprinted constructs resulted in improved bone tissue formation and coverage. This method shows promising potential for enhancing bone regeneration in patients with cranial injuries.

The dECM-based biocomposites exhibited significantly higher osteogenic and odontogenic activities compared to collagen-based biocomposites, indicating their potential as promising biomaterials for dental tissue engineering.

This in vitro model system allows for evaluating the effectiveness of small molecule therapeutics for HNSCC treatment and shows increased resistance compared to traditional monolayer cultures.
