Studies of the mechanical and neutron shielding features of concrete by incorporation of green additive materials: Experimental and numerical study

Summary: Concrete is widely used as a radiation shielding material, and this study evaluates the effects of adding pistachio shell (PS) and date palm leaf (PL) as natural additives to improve neutron shielding properties. Numerical studies using MCNP code show that incorporating PS and PL additives in concrete can enhance shielding performance against fast and thermal neutrons.

The efficacy of thick gas electron multiplier detector in measuring 14C for dating purpose

A novel approach for the reduction of aflatoxin in pistachio nuts using experimental and MCNP simulation

Calculation of secondary radiation absorbed doses due to the proton therapy on breast cancer using MCNPX code

Summary: In this study, the effects of secondary radiation damage caused by proton radiation therapy were investigated by simulating a proton beam irradiating a hypothetical breast tumor. The absorbed doses to the tumor and scattering radiation doses to other organs were calculated, showing that the scattered neutron dose near the breast can be negligible under certain conditions. A spread-out Bragg peak was obtained using weighted combinations of beams of different energies, which can replace modulator wheel design. The majority of scattered radiation was found to be neutrons, and spectral powers for neutrons and photons were plotted, showing different distributions for different energy beams.
