Lignin-Incorporated Supramolecular Copolymerization Yielding g-C3N4Nanoarchitectures for Efficient Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

Chengxiao Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, lignin-modified ultra-thin layered topography g-C (3) N (4) nanostructures were successfully synthesized, delivering a hydrogen-evolving rate 3.5 times higher than traditional g-C (3) N (4) catalysts. The improved catalytic performance is attributed to the synergistic effects of the nanostructure, extended visible light absorption, and ideal energy band configuration.

Direct Amorphous-structure Analysis: How are Surface/Bulk Structure and Activity of Titania Photocatalyst Particles Changed by Milling?

Guangyi Chen et al.

Summary: Analyzing the changes in surface and bulk structures of rutile titania particles induced by braying and post-calcination, it was found that the surface was amorphized and partly recrystallized, leading to decreased photocatalytic activities. This was evidenced by the energy-resolved distribution of electron traps observed using reversed double-beam photoacoustic spectroscopy.

Flame Synthesized Blue TiO2-x with Tunable Oxygen Vacancies from Surface to Grain Boundary to Bulk

Shuyang Wu et al.

Summary: A one-step flame synthesis method for fast fabrication of blue TiO2-x with controllable defect content and location is reported, along with the application of temperature-programmed oxidation (TPO) analysis for quantifying oxygen vacancies. Results showed that a moderate level of oxygen vacancies can greatly enhance charge transfer.

How Do Ionic Liquids Affect the Surface Structure of Titania Photocatalyst? An Electron-Trap Distribution-Analysis Study

Justyna Luczak et al.

Summary: Titanium dioxide photocatalyst particles were prepared using titanium alkoxide and various ionic liquids, with some exhibiting higher photocatalytic activity for phenol degradation under light irradiation compared to others. The presence of certain ionic liquids was found to induce the formation of a surface amorphous layer covered with hydrophobic organic residues, enhancing the adsorption of phenol on the surface.

Hydrogen Peroxide Generation with 100% Faradaic Efficiency on Metal-Free Carbon Black

Zhe Wang et al.

Summary: A metal-free catalyst synthesized from commercial carbon black using plasma treatment was found to exhibit high efficiency in electrochemical generation of hydrogen peroxide. The catalyst showed a high onset potential and the highest mass activity among state-of-the-art catalysts, even after removal of oxygen-containing groups, due to its defective structure after plasma treatment.

Kinetics analysis of the electron transfer from nano-TiO2 to O2 through on-line absorptions and theoretical modeling

Baoshun Liu et al.

Summary: The electron relaxations during transfer from nano-TiO2 to O-2 were found to be slow and dispersive due to low transfer probability and multi-trapping transport. The amount of O-2 mainly affects electron transfer by changing p(tr), while light intensities and temperatures affect it by changing multi-trapping transport. The disagreement between simulations and later stage relaxations may be due to additional deep traps with a different distribution contributing to the electron relaxations.
