Flame Spray Pyrolysis as a Synthesis Platform to Assess Metal Promotion in In2O3-Catalyzed CO2 Hydrogenation

Thaylan Pinheiro Araujo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of different metal promoters on the catalytic performance of In2O3 in CO2 hydrogenation to methanol. The results show that atomically-dispersed promoters exhibit the highest improvement in performance, while clustered and nanoparticle forms of metals have moderate or no promotion effect.

Quantification of Redox Sites during Catalytic Propane Oxychlorination by Operando EPR Spectroscopy

Guido Zichittella et al.

Summary: The identification and quantification of redox-active centers during catalysis is crucial for understanding reaction mechanisms, and operando EPR spectroscopy has been demonstrated as an important technique for this purpose. This study showed a correlation between the space-time-yield of C3H6 and the amount of Cr2+ and Eu2+ ions generated during propane oxychlorination over CrPO4 and EuOCl catalysts, providing a powerful strategy for quantitative understanding of alkane oxidation.

Impact of hybrid CO2-CO feeds on methanol synthesis over In2O3-based catalysts

Thaylan P. Araujo et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the sensitivity of In2O3 catalysts to CO, finding a decrease in methanol productivity for most catalysts except one. Controlled formation of oxygen vacancies and resistance to sintering were identified as key factors for activation, while a combination of CO/H2O-induced sintering and CO inhibition caused performance loss. Assessment with mixed CO2-CO feeds is crucial for designing industrially viable catalysts for sustainable methanol production.

Nanostructure of nickel-promoted indium oxide catalysts drives selectivity in CO2 hydrogenation

Matthias S. Frei et al.

Summary: This study investigates the complex interplay between nanostructure and product selectivity of nickel-promoted In2O3 in CO2 hydrogenation to methanol. The presence of nickel on the oxide surface forms InNi3 patches, which boost methanol production by providing neutral hydrogen species. Ratios of nickel to In content influence the formation of different structures and the production of CO and methane in the reaction.

Highly Active Ir/In2O3 Catalysts for Selective Hydrogenation of CO2 to Methanol: Experimental and Theoretical Studiese

Chenyang Shen et al.

Summary: Iridium (Ir) catalysts supported by indium oxide show high activity and selectivity in CO2 hydrogenation to methanol, with higher Ir loading leading to enhanced activity. The intense interaction between Ir and In2O3 on the catalysts results in high dispersion and the Ir-In2O3 interface as the active site for selective hydrogenation of CO2 into methanol.

Ni-In Synergy in CO2 Hydrogenation to Methanol

Jiadong Zhu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the promotion of Ni on In2O3 and optimization of NiO-In2O3 catalyst for CO2 hydrogenation. Ni facilitates the synthesis of CH3OH by reducing the dissociation barrier of H2, leading to reduced activation energy for CO2 hydrogenation. The interaction between Ni cations and In2O3 at low NiO loading enhances the surface density of oxygen vacancy, promoting the hydrogenation of adsorbed CO2 on O-v.

Oxygen-deficient metal oxides supported nano-intermetallic InNi3C0.5 toward efficient CO2 hydrogenation to methanol

Chao Meng et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed a highly active and selective catalyst, InNi3C0.5/ZrO2, for the direct CO2 hydrogenation to methanol by tuning the electronic metal-support interaction. This catalyst demonstrates excellent performance in terms of CO2 conversion and methanol selectivity, with potential applications in other oxygen-deficient metal oxides.
